The Archer County Commissioner’s Court acted upon an extensive list of items during its meeting on Monday, June 23. The court opened and awarded bids for road base materials and fuel and oil for the next fiscal year.

It’s rodeo time once again in Archer County. The Archer County Rodeo Association will present the 80th Annual Archer County Rodeo and Ranch Rodeo Thursday, June 19, through Saturday, June 21, at the Archer County Rodeo Arena.

Holliday High School was named the Lone Star Cup champion for the second year in a row following another fantastic year in academics and athletics for the 2024-2025 school year. The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications, based on their team performance in district and state championships.

Cletus Schenk was honored for his time served on the Wichita County Mounted Patrol board during the WCMP Rodeo on Saturday, June 7. Schenk, a Scotland native, served as the second president of WCMP in 1965 and helped build the rodeo into what it is today.
