Bosqueville Bulldogs bounced by Lady Cats in area

A slow start cost Archer City a set in their bi-district win over Alvord. The Lady Cats did not make that mistake a second time, racing out to a commanding lead before blowing away an overmatched Bosqueville team, 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-8), in the Region II-2A area round of the playoffs.

Holliday blasts Eastland in bi-district

Holliday (21-4) had no trouble putting away Eastland in its Region I-3A bi-district matchup. The Lady Eagles dominated from the outset in their 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-17) sweep of the Lady Mavericks.

Holliday advances to the Region I-3A area round where it meets either Wall or Odessa Compass Academy on Monday or Tuesday. Wall and Odessa Compass Academy meet Saturday at noon in Colorado City.

The Windthorst Trojanettes suffered a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-19) loss in its Region II-2A bi-district meeting with Chico on Thursday, Oct. 29, in Bowie. The young Trojanettes saw their season come to a close at 10-15.

Without the services of freshman Rylee Wolf, one of Windthorst’s top offensive threats, the Trojanettes struggled to create any momentum in the loss to the Lady Dragons.

Lady Cats finish strong to advance to area

Archer City (18-4) overcame an early deficit to down Alvord, 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-11) and advance to the Region II-2A Area round against Bosqueville. 

The Bulldogs defeated Hico, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) to set up the showdown with the Lady Cats. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, at Lake Worth.

Holliday wraps up regular season with 20-4 mark

The Holliday Lady Eagles closed out the regular season much like they have all season: recording a pair of sweeps to put the finishing touches on a district title. Holliday (20-4, 11-1) swept Breckenridge (25-7, 25-13, 25-15) on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and Christ Academy (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) on Friday, Oct. 23, to enter the postseason as the top seed in District 7-3A.

Wildcats blow away Munday

After an unexpected bye week in the middle of the season thanks to several COVID-19 postponements around the district, Archer City took advantage of its opportunities early in a 61-0 blowout of Munday on Thursday, Oct. 22.
