The city of Holliday voted to proceed with a contract for trash services with OnSite Solutions after Waste Connections raised concerns about the validity of OnSite’s bid during its council meeting on Monday, April 10.

The Holliday ISD School Board approved the purchase of a greenhouse for the district with grant funds at its scheduled meeting on Mon., April 10. “We put in for a $200,000 grant to start a cosmetology program but we never could find a place to do that,” superintendent Cody Carroll said.

Archer County cities see higher sales tax rebate

The cities of Archer City Holliday, Lakeside City, Megargel and Scotland saw an increase in sales tax in March than they did in the same time frame in 2022. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on March 8 that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1 billion in local sales tax allocations for March, 9.9 percent more than in March 2022.

Archer County 4-H Archer County 4-H was the host location for both the District 4-H Duds to Dazzle contest and the District 4-H Fashion Show. Duds to Dazzle was held at the Archer County Activity Center in Archer City.

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court proclaimed April as National Child Abuse Awareness Month in Archer County during its meeting on Monday, March 13. According to the proclamation, in 2021 3.9 million reports were made to child protective services.
