History is being made in this the month of November 2025. This year 2025, is the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of the Christian Church known as the Council of NICEA (325 AD). The precedent for Church Councils must surely be the Council of Jerusalem recounted in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles (15:1-35).This Council of NICEA was a gathering of most all the Bishops of the Catholic/ Orthodox Church. It was in the city of Antioch Syria that the followers of Jesus were first called Christians (Acts 11:26). It is also in that same city of Antioch, Syria that approximately 50 years later Christians were first being called Catholics - around a year 105 by their bishop Ignatius of Antioch.

County enacts burn ban

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson declared a county-wide emergency burn ban on Monday, Nov. 10, that will be in place for 10 days until Nov. 20. The ban can be rescinded at an earlier date based on the determination of the Commissioner’s Court or County Judge.
