Friday, April 22 Archer City 18, Quanah 0 Archer City (13-6) clobbered Quanah 18-0 to secure at least a share of the District 9-2A crown. Ty Bates powered the Wildcats, going 3-for-3 with a homer, double, three runs scored and three RBI.

Holliday’s girls once again dominated the track circuit, sending 13 individuals to the regional meet on April 29-30 at Abilene Christian. The Lady Eagles posted winners in nine events, winning the 100, 200, 800, 1600, 3200, 4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay, Shot Put and Discus.

Archer City has called on a pair of familiar faces to lead the boys and girls basketball programs following the resignation of Andrew Morris and retirement from coaching from Amy Huseman. During the Monday, April 25, Archer City ISD school board meeting, Josh Castles, a current Wildcat assistant and Archer City grad, was picked to lead the boys’ program while Tyler Owen returns to where he got his coaching start to lead the girls program.

Friday, April 22 Archer City 19, Petrolia 1 After needing some seventh inning heroics to beat Petrolia the first go round, Archer City (17-6) made certain to take care of business early on against the Lady Pirates. The Lady Cats scored four runs in each of the first three innings before hanging a seven spot in the fourth to put the game to bed in a 19-1 rout of Petrolia.

Holliday’s Makayla Smith shot 10 strokes better in her second round to earn a berth in the state tournament, firing a two-day total of 164 at the Region I-3A tournament on April 20-21 at Shady Oaks Golf Couse in Baird.

Friday, April 15 Archer City 14, Petrolia 7 Archer City (11-6) capitalized on windy conditions that forced six Petrolia errors in a 14-7 win over the Pirates. The Wildcats move into first place in District 9-2A with series against Quanah and Vernon Northside remaining.

Holliday’s girls dominated the District 7-3A track meet, more than doubling up second place Breckenridge (107) with 248 points. The Lady Eagles had a first place finisher in 13 of 16 events, including sweeping all three relays.
