The Archer City Wildcats (1-0) went to the ground game early and often on Friday, Aug. 28, rushing their way to a 28-7 victory over the Chico Dragons (01).

Tuesday, Aug. 25 Before the Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake tournament in Nocona, all three teams in Archer County played games to continue their tournament season preparations.

It’s Nov. 22, 2024 in Springtown, Texas, and the Holliday Eagles are playing a third round playoff game against the Blue Ridge Tigers. There’s 1:22 remaining in the contest and Blue Ridge has just taken a 34-28 lead following a 52yard touchdown score.

Leadership on rosters can manifest itself in different ways. For some teams the leader is loud and vocal with teammates, not afraid of ruffling feathers in order to demand excellence. For others it’s leading by example, not by the words that are spoken but the actions that are made.

As the 2026-27 volleyball season rolls around at Holliday High School, the Lady Eagles will look to finish the business they started last season.

Throughout head football coach Kyle Atwood’s tenure at Holliday High School, he’s entered each season with around 35 players to make up his football roster. Following a year in which the team saw 21 seniors graduate, he will now have only 22 total players.

With the Trojanettes’ volleyball team returning an array of talented players, one senior in particular comes to mind when talking to head coach Alisson Bussey about this season’s group. “Kenley is kind of our quiet leader,” Bussey said.

One season removed from claiming the 2AD2 boys cross country state championship, the Windthorst Trojans cross country program enters the new season looking to produce more of the same. With a new yet familiar coach in Heather Stark, the program hopes to continue its winning ways.

The 2026-27 Trojanettes are gearing up for another volleyball season in which they’ll look to add some hardware. Head coach Allison Bussey enters her 12th season at Windthorst and has already seen great things from this year’s group of girls.
