The Holliday Eagles and the Henrietta Bearcats gave it their all in their district matchup on Tuesday, March 18 and Friday, March 21, culminating in a 1-1 series split. After losing their first district game to Petrolia, the Archer City Lady Cats bounced back in a big way, winning their next three district games by a combined 62-8. The Archer City Lady Cats’ and Wildcats’ track and field teams travelled to Haskell on Thursday, March 20 to run and throw in the Haskell Relays. Sophomore Makaylee McCown took home a silver medal in the high jump after she hit a height of 4-8.

3 -1 After their 1-0 win over Seymour on Friday, March 14, the Trojanettes rattled off two more victories over district opponents last week to improve to 3-1 on the season. Tuesday, March 18 Petrolia 8 Windthorst 7 The week didn’t start out hot for the Trojanettes, as they dropped a close one to the Lady Pirates last Tuesday.

After run-filled, backand- forth battle between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Cats, bitter rival Henrietta snatched victory out of Holliday’s hands with a walk-off three-run homer to seal the series sweep on Thursday, March 20.

The Archer City Wildcats split their first district series of the season, taking on the Petrolia Pirates on Tuesday, March 18 and Friday, March 21. Freshman shortstop Seth Truette showed early promise as he hit the team’s first home run of the season.

The Windthorst Trojans trekked up to Muenster to participate in the Highway 82 Classic from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15. The Trojans finished the tournament with a record of 2-4.

In another installment in the rivalry between the Holliday Lady Eagles and the Henrietta Lady Cats, Henrietta took the first game in the series on Holliday’s home turf on Monday, March 17. Despite several spectacular defensive plays, the Lady Eagles couldn’t make up the ground, losing to the Lady Cats 11-6.

It was tough sailing for the Archer City Lady Cats on Thursday, March 13, falling to Petrolia in a late surge by the Lady Pirates to give the Black and Gold and 0-1 start to district. Petrolia took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a two-run homer over the leftfield wall.

The Windthorst Trojanettes opened up district play with a 10-0 thrashing over the Seymour Lady Panthers on Thursday, March 13. The team piled on a combined 11 hits in just five total innings.
