Following a sluggish start in its Bi-District match against DeLeon, Windthorst head coach Allison Bussey challenged her team to eliminate some of the errors that plagued them in its next round. The Trojanettes responded to the challenge as it bested Albany 25-15, 25-16, 25-15, in Graham on Thursday, Nov.

Holliday senior quarterback Grant Cox threw for five touchdowns and added a pair of TD runs to lead the seventh-ranked Eagles (9-1, 5-0) to a 48-20 dismantling of Callisburg (5-5, 2-3) on Friday. Cox finished the night going 24-of-35 for 386 yards while Holliday raced out to a 27-0 lead just nine minutes into the contest that proved to be too much for the Wildcats to overcome.

In the home of the Yellow Hammers, Holliday sophomore Jordan Peters laid down the hammer to lead the Lady Eagles to a five-set win over Wall on Thursday evening in Rotan. Peters collected a kill/ block double-double with 12 winners and 10 rejections as Holliday (36-9) held on for a thrilling 3-2 win.

In the course of six days the Archer City Wildcats (5-4) will go from overwhelming favorites to underdogs. Last Friday night at Wildcat Stadium the Cats sealed the fourth playoff spot in District 7-2A Division 2 with a 55-8 spanking of the Munday Moguls.

Windthorst completed its undefeated run through District 7 with a 44-14 win over Electra on Friday, Nov. 3.

The rumors of Holliday’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. The Eagles (8-1, 4-0) moved the ball up and down Veteran’s Field, rolling to a 47-22 win over City View (5-4, 2-2) to give Holliday its fourth-straight district title and first under new head coach Kyle Atwood.

Windthorst mauled No. 9 Seymour, 54-22, to clinch at least a share of the district title on Friday, Oct.
