Lady Cats d rop district opener

The Archer City Lady Cats fell in their home district-opener to newcomer Nocona Lady Indians on Saturday, Sept. 28. Last season, the Lady Indians went undefeated in their district, so the young Lady Cat squad had a tough matchup to open district play, and despite a hard-fought battle by the youthful crew, Nocona would secure the 3-0 sweep after winning 25-15, 25-17, and 25-12.

Eagles lose close battle with Indians

The rivalry between the Holliday Eagles and the Jim Ned Indians is just a few years old but has already produced quality matchups not just in football, but also in every other sport the two teams face off in. On Friday, Sept. 27 at Indian Stadium in Tuscola, fans were treated another bruising battle between the Eagles and the Indians, a contest that came down to a fourth quarter, game-winning field goal.

Lady Eagles overpower Bowie

The Holliday Lady Eagles seem to be on a roll since district play began as the Red and White haven’t dropped a single set in district play in three games. That streak continued on Friday, Sept. 27 as Holliday swept the Bowie Lady Rabbits 25-5, 25-11, and 25-8. Frontline players Emma Ellis and Claire Steinruck reach double- digit kills for the third time in district, with Ellis leading the charge with 11, while Steinruck narrowly trailed her sophomore with 10. Fellow hitters Jordan Peters and Rylee Whitley each kicked in five kills as well. Braylie Womack and Maggie Maxwell continued to dish out assists as both setters crossed double-digit assists for the fourth time in district play. Womack topped the squad with 19 assists, adding three aces while Maxwell put up 15 assists and recorded four digs on the night.

Lady Rabbits outrun Archer City

The Archer City Lady Cats dropped all three sets to the Graford Lady Rabbits in Graford on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The Lady Cats struggled in their first two sets, losing 12-15 and 1125, before fighting back in the third set to nearly come away with the victory, falling short 20-25.

Trojannettes fall to #2 Harrold

For the second time this season, the Windthorst Trojanettes faced off the against the Class 1A #2 ranked Harrold Lady Hornets on Tuesday, Sept. 24. These two teams met earlier this year, in the first round of the Cool in Boomtown tournament in Burkburnett, where Harrold took home the 2-1 victory. This matchup, the Trojanettes traveled to the home of the Lady Hornets to battle the highly competitive Harrold squad.
