Hornets fly past Trojans in second half

It was a battle of two Class 2A stalwarts on Friday, Sept. 13 as the #4 ranked Windthorst Trojans took on the #3 ranked Muenster Hornets on Trojan Field. The two teams have faced off four out of the last five years, with the Hornets winning the three previous encounters. But this year, the two highly ranked rivals look to make statement victories early on in the season.

Benbrook stuns Holliday

For their week three home matchup, the Holliday Eagles hosted the Class 4A Benbrook Bobcats at Don Lucy Stadium on Friday, Sept. 13. Both teams were 2-0 heading into the game and aimed to keep the winning streak alive.

An offensive masterclass brought Holliday a 3-1 set victory over the Class 1A #3 ranked Harrold Lady Hornets on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Senior setters Maggie Maxwell and Braylie Womack combined for 42 assists in the Lady Eagle’s win, with Womack finishing the night with 24 assists, while her teammate Maxwell collected 18 assists. Womack also added nine digs, one ace, and even two kills of her own.

Trojanettes subdue Lady Hawks

The Trojanettes won in an efficient 3-1 match against the Class 3A Iowa Park Lady Hawks at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10. After jumping to a 2-0 lead thanks to 25-20 and 25-17 wins in sets one and two respectively, Windthorst closely dropped the third set 26-24, before claiming the victory with a heated 25-23 set four finale.

Smith runs wild in win over Alvord

Archer City’s offense continued to flourish in their week three matchup against the Alvord Bulldogs on Friday, Sept. 13. Coming off a 50-28 defeat at the hands of Anson a week prior, a game that saw the Wildcats total nearly 400 rushing, Archer City topped that effort with 421 rushing yards on Friday night, leading to the 37-32 victory over the Bulldogs.
