Press Rlease During its heyday, Booked Up, Larry Mc-Murtry’s internationally renowned bookshop, had by some accounts between 500,000 and 700,000 rare and collectible books shelved inside four buildings around the Town Square. McMurtry’s quest was to turn his hometown into a book town modeled after Hay-on-Why, a Welch village where the streets are lined with bookstores and bibliophiles.
