City of Holliday approves new emergency alert system

The city council of Holliday approved making Hyper-Reach as its new emergency alert system at a cost of $500 per year during its meeting Monday, May 16. County Emergency Management Coordinator Shane Wright presented the information to the council at its previous meeting May 9.

No plans for a landfill

Last Wednesday, Commissioner Wolf called asking about the status of a landfill in Archer County. I told him that since 2015, when I took office, until now, I have never been approached or consulted on the matter of a landfill.

Three Archer City High School journalists competed at the state UIL academic meet on May 6 at the University of Texas and earned four medals. Junior Kadence Huffman received the silver medal in editorial writing and placed fifth in copy editing.
