Local student wins scholarship

Jenna Veitenheimer, of Scotland, received the Catholic Life Insurance All American Scholar Award. Veitenheimer, who is the daughter of Laurie and Kenneth Veitenheimer, is a senior at Windthorst High School. She will attend Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls this fall. New representatives elected for five entities

The city of Archer City, Archer City ISD, city of Windthorst, Windthorst ISD and city of Holliday saw new faces chosen to represent the voters in the May 7 election. In the city of Archer City mayoral race, Jake Truette received 206 votes, or 81.10%, to succeed Kelvin Green.

The Holliday City Council discussed what actions the city has taken since Police Chief Joe Chunn’s death and what actions may still need to occur during its council meeting Monday, May 9. Archer County Sheriff Jack Curd spoke to the council about what the office can do for the city while the Holliday Police Department is down to just one officer.
