The Archer Thrift Shop will be closing at the end of July after co-managers Joe Roderick and Steven Schroeder made the difficult to decision to close the non-profit. The thrift shop sold donated clothes to those in need for pennies on the dollar.
The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved a special taxing unit disaster option during its meeting Monday, July 12, which allow the county to move the rollback property tax rate from 3.5% above the effective rate to 8% above the effective property tax rate.
The Windthorst ISD school board approved the hiring of Ashley Schroeder as the new elementary school principal in a special called meeting June 24 and Schroeder started in the position on July 1. Schroeder replaces outgoing principal Ann Armendarez who left to take a principal position with Burkburnett ISD in June.
The Archer City city council voted to approve resolutions which authorizes the expenditure of up to $20,000 in 4B funds to the Royal Theater and the Archer County Museum and Art Center during its meeting Thursday, June 24.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) began accepting nominations for county committee members on June 15. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for these members who make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. All nomination forms for the 2021 election must be postmarked or received in the local FSA office by Aug. 2.
Holliday ISD earned a second-place finish in the prestigious UIL Lone Star Cup standings following a tremendous year for the district. The Eagles scored 83 points, second only to regional-rival Brock with 90 points.
