Proctor denied rights to animals in Archer City cruelty case

Amber Marie Proctor was arrested by Archer County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jack Monroe, on July 19 and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals on three separate arrest warrants issued by the Archer County Police Department, one for each animal.

Paul named lone finalist for WISD Superintendent

The Windthorst ISD school board voted unanimously to name Dr. William Paul, current high school principal at Breckenridge ISD, as the lone finalist for its superintendent position during a special called meeting Tuesday, July 27.

Archer City ISD examines budget

The Archer City ISD school board discussed a preliminary budget and tax rates at its meeting Monday, July 26. Superintendent CD Knobloch led the school board through the preliminary budget preview and said the proposed budgets will be $0.9321 per $100 property tax value for maintenance and operation.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court continued its discussion regarding budget and tax rates for the fiscal year 2022 during its meeting Monday, July 26. County Tax Assessor-Collector Dawn Vieth said she received the 2021 truth in taxation form from the state comptroller’s at 4:15 p.m.

Windthorst mural complete

Travelers on U.S. 281 just north of Windthorst will find on the east side of the highway a mural at Carcano’s Fine Meats. The mural is a creation by local artist Brea’n Thompson depicting all things Texas. Thompson said, “The Carcanos love it and the community loves it. It was a good, fun project.”

Lights installed at Scotland Park

New LED lighting goes up at the Scotland Park baseball field. Clay Jackson of Double E Electric is handling the 48 light, 6 pole installation. The original lights on the field decades ago were installed by Jackson’s father, Lane Jackson.
