It was a competitive season for the three Archer County high school football teams this season. It was expected to be a rebuild year for the Archer City Wildcats, and although they finished the season with a 1-9 record, the team that was filled with first-year starters and only several returning starters flashed their talents numerous times throughout the season.
Archer City High School hosted their annual Wildcat Classic Basketball tournament over the weekend. This three-day tournament features the boys’ and girls’ teams from different classifications all across the area as well as usually including all the boys’ and girls’ teams of Archer City, Windthorst, ad Holliday.
Archer County as a whole had one of the best volleyball seasons in recent memory. For the first time since the 2018-2019 season, all three schools advanced past the Area round of the playoffs.
Both the Holliday Lady Eagles and the Windthorst Trojanettes competed in the annual Gayno Shelton’s Hoopin’ into the Holidays Classic in Bowie on Monday, Nov. 24 and Tuesday, Nov.
District 8-2A Archer City Lady Cats The Lady Cats returned a lot of their roster from last year’s team, and saw a ton of improvement in terms of overall output on the court. The improvement cultivated in a 4-4 record in district play.
The Windthorst Trojans clashed with a familiar foe for their Area-round playoff matchup on Friday, Nov. 21, battling the Lindsay Knights in a four-quarter slugfest at Kangaroo Stadium in Weatherford.
