Holliday head coach Kyle Tucker and his Eagles are off to a hot-start in District 7-3A action, rattling off a string of wins. Their first district win of the season came on the road against the Vernon Lions on Saturday, Jan.

District 9-2A basketball is officially underway for the Windthorst Trojanettes, who finished last year with 8-4 district record and will look to replicate that same success this season. The Trojanettes kicked off their district action with a 24-point win over the Petrolia Lady Pirates on Friday, Jan.

After a rough start against the two top teams in District 9-2A, Nocona and Seymour, the Archer City Lady Cats rebounded with a pair of wins over the Electra Lady Tigers and the Olney Lady Cubs. Senior Addy Peters exploded for a team-leading 17 points in Archer City’s 51-42 road-victory over Electra on Tuesday, Jan.

The Windthorst Trojans’ journey to the Class 2A basketball playoffs began on Friday, Jan. 2 as they took on the Petrolia Pirates in a road matchup.

Both the Holliday Eagles and Lady Eagles traveled west to battle in the 2025 Eula Holiday Classic, a basketball tournament that brings teams from all across the state to compete in a three-day contest.

Both the Holliday Eagles and Lady Eagles competed in the 18th annual Wichita Falls Classic high school basketball tournament on Monday, Dec. 22. This year’s installment was hosted by Midwestern State University, and was played at D. L. Ligon Coliseum.

Tuesday, Dec. 16 Nocona 67 Archer City 4 Senior Serenity Jones and freshman Lyla Nichols accounted for the only two scores for the Lady Cats in their district loss to the 2AD2 defending state champions Nocona on Tuesday.

The 25-26 sports season was one of the most memorable ones to date. State championship, deep playoff runs, and games that will be remembered for many years to come.

Archer County had three teams and 22 total athletes compete at the UIL Cross Country State Championships this year. Seven of those runners finished in the top-20 in their respective races.
