Former Archer City Wildcat Darryn Shearmire was inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame during the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Clinic in San Antonio on Saturday, May 10.

Another year, another successful season on the softball diamond for the three county high school squads. Archer City, Holliday, and Windthorst all secured a spot in the playoffs, will all three even winning in the Bi-District round.

In a gripping best-ofthree series, district rivals the Holliday Eagles and the Iowa Park Hawks faced off in the Regional Finals round on Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24, to determine who would move on to the State Semifinals next week.

This 2024-2025 baseball season marked a lot of upsides for both the Archer City Wildcats and the Windthorst Trojans. With a relatively young cast, the Wildcats managed to nab a playoff spot and even string together four wins in a row with double- digit runs.

The Holliday Eagles just seem to have a knack for incredible pitching performances in the playoffs. After a pair of shutout wins over Sweetwater in the Area round, the Eagles followed that up with a 2-1 series win over the #7 ranked Shallowater on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 in Eula.

The Holliday Eagles are rolling on to the Regional Semi-finals round for the fourth straight year after a pair of shutout victories over the Sweetwater Mustangs on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9. The Eagles’ pitching has been on another level in the playoffs this season.

In one of the best threegame series in recent memory, the Windthorst Trojans laid it all on the line against the defending state champions Collinsville in the Area round on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9 at Eagle Mountain High School in Saginaw.

The Archer City Lady Cats’ hopeful softball season came to an end on Saturday, May 10, going out in a best-three-series to the Moody Lady Bearcats in the Regional Semi-final round in Weatherford. “The girls were really doing everything they could to try and win the game,” head coach Kent Kyle said after the loss.
