For the second straight season, Coahoma’s Hannah Wells proved to be an enigma that Holliday was unable to solve. The Bulldogettes sophomore allowed just four hits while striking out 11 as Coahoma ended the Lady Eagles’ season with a 4-0 loss in the area round on Thurs., May 4, in Hawley.

Upcoming presentations of grants to Architecture and Design Foundation, Dallas, and Archer County Museum and Arts Center, Archer City A presentation of Texas Historical Foundation’s grant to the Architecture and Design Foundation will take place 3:30 p.m. May 10 at the AD EX building in downtown Dallas.

Windthorst blistered DeLeon in an area round sweep, hammering out 39 runs on 47 hits in the twogame stretch. The Trojanettes took game one 23-1 before finishing off the series with a 16-1 win in game two.

Jaxx Johnson gunned down the potential game-tying run at the plate in the top of the sixth inning to preserve a 7-6 lead for the Eagles as Holliday completed a bi-district sweep of Breckenridge, 8-1 and 7-6.

Windthorst needed just 10 innings to complete a bi-district sweep of Chico and set up a date with Honey Grove in the area round. The Trojans outpaced the Dragons 30-4 over the two game set, winning the opener 14-2 before finishing off the series with a 16-2 win.

The Archer City Lady Cats saw their 2023 campaign come to a close in a pair of losses to Muenster on Thursday and Friday, April 27-28, in Era. The Lady Hornets won the opener 18-2 before finishing off the series 21-3.

Thurs., April 27 Windthorst 10, Anson 5 Windthorst (19-7-2) erased a 4-2 deficit with an eight-spot in the top of the fifth to grab the lead for good in a 10-5 win over Anson in a playoff tune-up game. Brayden Berend and Tanner Doyal each collected a pair of knocks for the Trojans to pace the offense while each added a double.

After winning the program’s first Region I-3A title a season ago, the Holliday Lady Eagles are on-top once again, winning the two-day track meet with 85 points at ACU on April 28-- 29. Holliday edged out second place Shallowater by 11 points and third place Bushland and Childress by 25 points.

It was a great day to be in blue at the Region II- 2A Track Meet on April 28-29 as Windthorst saw five advance to the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet. The Trojanettes finished the regional meet in fourth place with 46 points but was just 10 points off the lead as Era, Stamford and Hamilton all tied with 56 points.
