Archer County athletes compete in regional tennis tournament

Archer County athletes fared well at the Region II-2A tennis tournament last week, April 10 and 11, in North Richland Hills, with Archer City’s mixed doubles team of junior Kline Mayo and senior Sara Schroeder nabbing a gold medal and state berth while junior Chase Curry, who earned regional gold and state bronze his freshman year, brought home his second regional bronze.

Fri., April 14 Holliday 15, City View 0 Holliday (20-1) routed City View on Senior Day behind a dominant performance in the circle by Addison Lindemann while every starter in the Lady Eagles’ lineup collected at least one hit. Lindemann (15-1) hurled a perfect game, striking out all nine batters while throwing 27 of her 39 pitches for strikes.

The Windthorst Trojanettes are once again District 9-2A champions following an impressive showing at the district meet on Thurs., April 6. Windthorst outpaced second- place Nocona by 74 points, winning the meet with 218 points.

Peyton Marchand powered Holliday at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and triple to go along with four RBI.

Thurs., April 6 Holliday 17, Vernon 0 Holliday (19-1) shelled Vernon for a 17-0 shutout in a three inning dismantling of the Lady Lions. Addison Lindemann led the Lady Eagles with a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the plate, driving in four with a pair of doubles. Allie Davis added a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot, going 2-for-2 with a double, three runs and an RBI while Carissa Griffin drove in a pair of runs and scored twice as well with a double. Lindemann (14-1) came a hit-by-pitch shy of a perfect game, striking out eight in 3.0 no-hit innings.
