Holliday MS wins District UIL meet

Holliday middle school took first place in its Academic UIL District Meet, competing against Henrietta, City View and Nocona. The Eagles won the meet with 1,381 points, over 400 points better than runner-up Henrietta (743) and more than 1,000 points better than City View (277) and Nocona (134).

Archer City ISD December board meeting update

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Archer City ISD is experiencing setbacks while striving to keep everything as normal as possible. It was reported at the meeting the Wildcat boys’ basketball team had been quarantined due to exposure to a positive case.

The Sheriff’s Office received 89 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Dec. 20. On the day of this report there were 29 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 25 men and four women.

Windthorst Trojans… State Champs!! One point victory! I would have loved to have been there. Those who were likely spent most of that game on the edge of their seats. Having played competitive sports I do know the crowd is a major factor. That energy spurs the players on to do extraordinary things. Just because you grew up in a small town does not mean you cannot accomplish great things.

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson reported on Tuesday, Dec. 22, that the county has seen another 100 case increase in total Covid-19 cases in just one week’s time and the county will remain unexempt from GA-29 including a facial covering mandate which was issued by Governor Greg Abbott.

Trojans bring down three-time defending champions, Mart, 22-21

As the old saying goes, ‘To be the best, you have to beat the best,’ and as Ethan Belcher trotted into high school football immortality on a two-point conversion with 26-seconds remaining, Windthorst did just that. The Trojans ended Mart’s quest for a four-peat in a 22-21 classic on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
