“On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching.”

Recollections of a Grand Old School

Body
Built in 1926, the three-story red brick school building located on South Ash Street in Archer City, Texas, stood for eighty-nine years before being torn down to make room for a new school. The memories of those who walked its halls haven’t faded, and local author Jim Black (Class of 1971) has gathered together some of those memories in his latest book titled Through These Halls. This special compilation of amusing and touching remembrances paints an endearing portrait of life in the historic old building whose presence touched the lives of generations in this small Texas town.

Standing Firm: Spiritual Protection and the Full Armor of God

Body
Grace and Peace to you in the name of our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ In every generation, the people of God have faced spiritual challenges that test their faith, character, and endurance. In my denomination, the new movement of the Global Methodist Church emphasizes a life of holiness, discipleship, and mission, and none of that can be sustained without intentional spiritual protection. The Apostle Paul’s teaching on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6:10–18 offers a timeless framework for believers who want to stand firm in a world filled with spiritual pressures.
