The Windthorst Trojans clashed with a familiar foe for their Area-round playoff matchup on Friday, Nov. 21, battling the Lindsay Knights in a four-quarter slugfest at Kangaroo Stadium in Weatherford.

Basketball is underway in Archer County. All three high schools had basketball games. Holliday Lady Eagles, Archer City Lady Cats, and the Windthorst Trojanettes all opened their seasons on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Two projects slated for public release in early 2026—a biography and an accompanying documentary— will explore the life and legacy of a proud Archer City native, the writer and book collector Larry McMurtry, who passed away in 2021.
