Just a year after competing with the Henrietta Bearcats for the last playoff spot in the district, the Holliday Eagles claimed the District 7-3A championship following victories of the Jacksboro Tigers and the City View Mustangs.

For the first time since 2006, the Windthorst Trojans earned a district championship in basketball on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Big Blue won the title outright after the Seymour Panthers defeated the Nocona Indians on the same night, handing Nocona a third loss in district.

The Archer City Wildcats recorded their first district win on Tuesday, Feb. 10, defeating Petrolia on their own court and on the Pirates’ Senior Night.

Just four days after their unexpected win over the Windthorst Trojanettes, the Archer City Lady Cats’ playoff hopes were dashed as they fell to the Petrolia Lady Pirates on the road on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Jan. 11, 2022. That was the last time the Archer City Lady Cats defeated the Windthorst Trojanettes on the hardwood. Finally, after a little over four years, the Lady Cats claimed a victory over their Archer County rival.

The Windthorst Trojans put up a staggering 33 points in the second quarter alone in their roadgame versus the Archer City Wildcats on Friday, Feb. 6. They road that wave for the remainder of the game, leading to the 83-22 win.

Along with football, the UIL also released the district alignments for volleyball on Monday, Feb. 2. Archer City, Windthorst, and Holliday all saw an array of changes for the next two volleyball seasons.

The Holliday Eagles clinched the top-seed for the 3A-D1 playoffs following a week of district wins. They are just a win away from an outright district title, which would mark their second in the last three years.
