The Holliday Lady Eagles are off to a solid start in their grueling district run this season. They opened a series against the Jacksboro Tigerettes, a team they split with last year.

The Archer City and Windthorst softball teams competed in one final tournament before district play rolls around. The Lady Cats and the Trojanettes both battled in the Graham Softball Tournament on Thursday, March 5 to Saturday, March 7.

The Windthorst Trojans’ basketball season came to an end on Friday, Feb. 27 in Mineral Wells. After a 36-point blowout win over Stamford in the Bi-District round, Big Blue had the unfortunate task of facing off with No. 1 Lipan Indians in the Area round.

All three teams competed in the annual Iowa Park softball invitational on Thursday, Feb. 26 to Saturday, Feb. 28. Playing mostly higher classified opponents, Holliday, Archer City, and Windthorst all collected wins over solid opponents over the threeday tourney.

Both the Archer City Wildcats and the Holliday Eagles competed in the annual American Cancer Society baseball tournament from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28. Facing off with contenders from all over the area, the Eagles went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend, while the Wildcats went 1-4.

For the third season in a row, the Holliday Eagles advanced to the Regional round of the playoffs following a blowout win in the Area round. In this year’s installment, Holliday dispatched the Comfort Bobcats 70-50 on Friday, Feb. 27 in Comanche.

Holliday guard Jason Luke was unstoppable in the Eagles’ Bi-District round against Breckenridge on Monday, Feb. 23 at Bowie High School. The star junior exploded for a career-high 37 points over the Buckaroos.

The Windthorst Trojanettes’ basketball season came to an end in Breckenridge as they faced off with perennial powerhouse Lipan in the 2A-D2 Area round on Thursday, Feb. 19 Coming into the game, Lipan was 30-5, hadn’t dropped a contest since Dec. 30 and were ranked in the top-10 by both the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and the Texas Girls Coaches Association. It was going to be an uphill battle from the beginning for Windthorst head coach Heather Stark and her young squad.
