Softball, Baseball All-State Honors

With successful seasons from the three county high school teams in baseball and softball, All-State nominations are expected to follow. A total of eight county athletes received All-State recognition, three more than last season, showing off the amount of talent in Archer County.

Sales Tax rebates rise for two cities

The cities of Archer City and Lakeside City, saw an increase in sales tax rebates in July than they did in the same time frame in 2024. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for March, 10.2 percent more than in March 2024.

Ruby McCaskill Softball Tourney set for next weekend

The annual Ruby Mc-Caskill Memorial Softball Tournament will take place at the Archer City High School baseball field on Saturday, July 26 in efforts to help raise money for Archer City native Kenneth Stephens Jr., who had surgery to remove Stage 4 colon cancer this past year.

Windthorst ISD will welcome their third Belcher into the mix this year as former Trojan standout Cy Belcher accepted a coaching/ teaching position over the summer break. The oldest son of Scott, the offensive coordinator and head baseball coach for Windthorst, and JJ, a longtime teacher at Windthorst, Cy returns home to be the quarterback’s coach for the Trojans, and will also coach junior high basketball and be an assistant coach in softball.

Williams returning to Windthorst Diamond

Body
A familiar face will be leading the Windthorst Trojanettes softball team this season, as former Windthorst graduate Kelsey Williams will take over as head coach for the 25-26 season. “I’m just really excited,” Coach Williams said.
