The Holliday Lady Eagles collected a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) sweep of City View to begin District 7-3A play with a win on Friday, Sept. 8.

Holliday cross country continues to dominate. With three meets under its belt, the Holliday Lady Eagles still have not tasted defeat, winning each of its first three outings by an average of 25 points.

These Holliday Eagles may have just found their offensive identity. After two games and three quarter of limited offensive success with the spread, a fourth quarter shift to the I-formation allowed the Eagles to extend a 6-0 lead against Idalou to a 19-point shutout win in a 19-0 blanking of the Wildcats.

The Archer City Lady Cats and Windthorst Trojanettes each collected a win in the last week as district play begins to move closer into the picture. Archer City hammered Bellevue for a 3-0 (25-9, 258, 25-16) sweep at home on Sat., Sept.

It has been a long time since Holliday was completely outmatched by an opponent. It’s been an even longer time since it happened at home.

The Archer City Wildcats progressively stretched out a 21-0 lead before holding off a late push by the Tigers to escape with a 21-13 win on the road at Anson. Costly turnovers kept the Wildcats from pulling away but the Archer City defense rose up time and again to keep the Tigers at arms reach.

Windthorst freshman quarterback Brock Belcher and senior wide receiver Kolby Teakell already have a special connection on the gridiron. The duo hooked up time and time again as Windthorst held off Henrietta, 37-34, in the season opener on Fri., Aug. 25.
