Lady Eagles continue winning ways, streak to 12

As the late Al Davis famously said, “Just win, baby.” The 17th-ranked Holliday Lady Eagles (15-3, 7-0) have done just that, posting their 11th and 12th-straight wins by downing Childress (26-24, 25-16, 25-18) and Bowie (25-15, 25-17, 25-14) in a pair of 3-0 sweeps this past week. The winning streak dates back to a 3-0 sweep of Burkburnett on Aug.

Wins continue to come for Windthorst Trojanettes

After a 2-12 start to the season, the Windthorst Trojanettes (7-12, 3-0) seem to have turned the corner, winning five in a row. Included in those five-straight victories is a 3-0 start to District 9-2A play after a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-14) sweep of Petrolia on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and a 3-0 (25-5, 25-6, 25-9) rout of Electra on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Windthorst stalls against No. 2 Hamlin, 14-0

Missed opportunities haunted the fourth-ranked Windthorst Trojans (5-1) in their 14-0 loss at home to second-ranked Hamlin. The Trojans pushed the ball deep into Pied Pipers’ territory on five separate occasions but were held out of the endzone.

Archer County Election Office preparing for Nov. 3

A mass of national and statewide confusion is swirling around voting in the Tuesday, Nov. 3 General Election. Much of the confusion springs from lawsuits filed by different parties with a stake in the election. Texas government officials and election officials all over the state are working hard to insure a fair and complete vote count.
