Archer County Sheriff's Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 559 calls for service these past three weeks. As this report is being written there are 26 inmates 4 being female in the Archer County Jail.
Moore honored for 22 years of service as Mayor
Body
Former Holliday mayor Allen Moore was recognized by the council on Monday, July 8, for his accomplishments over his 22 years of service as Mayor. Current mayor Brad Litteken presented Moore with the proclamation.
97th District Attorney indicted for theft

97th District Attorney Casey Hall was indicted for theft of property greater than $2,500 less than $30,000 from Montague County on Monday, July 8. An order was also signed disqualifying her as District Attorney for the case and appointing Matthew Shawhan, of the Office of the Attorney General Criminal Prosecution Division, as District Attorney Pro Tem.
Windthorst ISD raises lunch prices

The Windthorst ISD school board approved raising the cafeteria lunch prices from $3 to $3.50 for the 2024-2025 school year during its board meeting Monday, July 8. Superintendent Jason Nolan said the increase in price is being driven more by the state than it is locally.

Archer Public Librar y to host book signing

The Archer Public Library is proud to announce it will be hosting a book signing for authors Jim Black and Jim Lewis on Wednesday, July 17 from Noon until 3:00 P.M. The Archer City natives have collaborated on two works—Life with Bingo and Ezra. In addition to these, Black will have copies of all of his other books on hand for purchase. These include River Season, Miracle on the Gridiron, the recently published Stones of Summer and others.
Leverton places in land judging

Noah Leverton, who attends Woodson ISD, was part of the team that won third in state for land judging. This team was the first team ever from Woodson to make it to Nationals.
