What can you bear?

One of the most misunderstood scriptures in God’s Word is found in I Corinthians 10:13. “He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.” Some people twist that passage and say that God will never give you more than you can handle. Really? Is that right? Wait a minute. Look at our world. Look at the holocaust, death, murder, cancer, and wars. It seems people are given burdens they cannot handle.

Huge arena shows in Fort Worth, Dallas, and Houston dominate the live performance scene. The problem is getting an expensive ticket and then battling the crowd. Often the super star performers appear as a spec from your nose bleed seat so you spend most of time watching the big screen. There is another alternative to see super star entertainment.

ACPD cracking down on golf carts

The Archer City Police Department and other local agencies are cracking down on golf cart ordinance violations. Archer City Police Chief Justin Perron updated the Archer City Council on law enforcement’s efforts to curb violations of the ordinance during a council meeting Thursday, June 27.

Archer City approves insurance increase

The Archer City Council approved renewing health, dental, vision and life insurance with the TML Health Benefits Pool during its council meeting on Thursday, June 27. City Secretary Kim Whitsitt told the council that the city currently pays 100% of its employee’s insurance plan.

State candidates speak at Democratic Convention

Peace of Mind workshop to be held on July 9

The Archer County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office is hosting a peace of mind planning workshop on Tuesday, July 9. Extension Agent Maranda Revell said the event was taken from other county extension offices after financial planning was recommended during the organizations Texas Communities Futures Forum in April.

County approves business services contract for sheriff's office

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved a purchasing agreement contract between Cintas and the Archer County Sheriff's Office during its meeting on Monday, June 24. Sherriff Jack Curd presented the proposal to the court and said this contract had the potential to save his office a bit of money over the year.
