Body Archer City freshman quarterback Joe Castles tossed four touchdowns for the second straight game, going 17-of-21 through the air for 336-yards as the Wildcats knocked off Anson 34-17 on Friday, Sept. 2.

Body The fifth-ranked Holliday Lady Eagles continued to dominate, picking up straight set wins over Rider (25-17, 25-23, 25-20) and Peaster (25-22, 25-14, 25-22) to improve to 26-2 on the season and run its winning streak to 17-straight matches.

Body Holliday continued its run of tournament championships with a 6-0 week at the Harvester Classic in Pampa this past weekend to improve to 23-2 on the year. The Lady Eagles have two non-district matches remaining before opening up league play on Saturday, Sept. 10, at City View.

Body Sixth-ranked Holliday got three big plays to pop in the second half, turning a 7-0 halftime lead into a 28-7 win over Iowa Park to kickoff the 2022 season. While the offense saw flashes of brilliance, the Eagles’ defense stole the show.

Body Henrietta pulled away with 22 unanswered points in the final 12:08 for a 36-7 win over Windthorst in the season opener on Friday, Aug. 26. The Bearcats defense limited the Trojans’ offense for the majority of the night as Windthorst slides to 0-1 on the young season.

Body The Bradan Ritchey era in Archer City got started on the right foot after a dominating 35-12 win on the road against Quanah in the first-year head coach’s debut with the Wildcats.

Body 19th-ranked Windthorst wrapped up its tournament season with a third-place finish at the Buckle Up for Lane’s Sake competition on Thursday and Saturday of this past week in Nocona.
