County rolls on to Area

All three county high schools breezed through the bi-district round as Archer City, Holliday and Windthorst punched tickets to Area.

The Lady Cats (29-11) play tonight at 6:30 against Moody (30-5) in Godley.

Windthorst (27-13) plays Crawford (39-7) tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Aledo.

Holliday (37-5) meets Wall (33-10) at noon on Saturday at Cisco College.

Eagles blank City View on Senior Night, 41-0

Peyton Marchand had three first half touchdown passes and Holliday’s defense was never really threatened in Friday night’s 41-0 win over City View at Don Lucy Field. Holliday (9-0) clinched at least a share of the district championship with Henrietta’s 42-14 loss to Callisburg.

The Archer City Junior High ‘Cardiac ‘Cats’ logged another comeback win, this time, downing Olney 24-20 to move to 4-0 in district play. Joe Castles scored a pair of touchdowns on the round while throwing a 15-yd touchdown pass to Parker Hilbers. Steven Zea Monroy added a 4-yd rushing score. Standouts included Gideon Towner, Cy Wooldridge, Billy Booher and Dennis Baugh.

Lady Eagles, Belcher advance to state cross country meet

For the third-straight year, the Holliday Lady Eagles are headed to Round Rock and for the second-straight year, Windthorst’s Cameron Belcher will be joining them. The top-ranked Lady Eagles blew away the competition at the Region I-3A Championship at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock, finishing 101 points ahead of second place Crane (132).
