Lady Cats beat Windthorst, take lead in District 9-2A race

Body Archer City took command of the District 9-2A race behind a 3-1 (25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16) victory on the road Saturday at arch-rival Windthorst. The Lady Cats (24-11, 8-0) snapped the Trojanettes’ (24-11, 7-1) nine-game winning streak by winning their eighth-straight.

Archer City girls take 9-2A team title; Belcher places first

Body The Archer City Lady Cats’ cross country team of Kassidy Marin, Rebecca Taggart, Kaydyn Ritchie, Malia Jones, Landri Payne and Jenny Smith won the District 9-2A championship on Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Seymour. Archer City edged out Olney 57-50 to bring home the district crown.

Lady Eagles run away with District 7-3A championship

Body The Holliday Lady Eagles completed the first leg of their journey for a state championship with a near sweep of the District 7-3A championship on Monday, Oct. 11. Holliday scored 17 points, taking first through third and fifth through eighth to win the crown.

Bates leads ‘Cats to win over Quanah

Body Archer City senior quarterback Ty Bates accounted for five touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 42-20 win over Quanah on Friday, Oct. 8. The Wildcats (3-2, 1-0) avenged their lone district loss to the Indians (0-6, 0-1) from a season ago.

Body For just the third time in school history, Holliday (6-0, 1-0) put up 80 points on an opponent in football. The Eagles scored time after time in an 80-16 rout of Valley View (0-6, 0-1) to open up district action with a win on Friday, Oct. 8.
