Fall sports are just around the corner. Athletes report to fall camp in just two weeks to gear up for the season before first serve in the opening match on Monday, Aug.

Football season is just around the corner. Athletes report to fall camp in just three weeks to gear up for the season before officially kicking off on Aug.

After concluding the most successful season in school history with a 38-3 record and the first trip to the state tournament, Holliday was well-represented on the Texas Sports Writer’s Association all-state squad.

The Windthorst ISD school board made a commitment to attempt to fit in the replacement of the track and football field in its upcoming fiscal year budget. Athletic Director Chris Tackett presented the options and his preference on companies to perform the task to the board.

A pair of former Archer County standouts make a return to their old stomping grounds. Josh and Julie Castles return to Archer City as assistant coaches for the 2021-22 school year.

Archer County was well represented at the 84th Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl as 16 county athletes competed one final time in the annual all-star game. Luke Haehn and Max Owen went head-to-head on the basketball court on Friday. Delaini Hanna, Brittany James, Kacee Teichman and Bree Zellers suited up in Saturday’s volleyball game before Cy Belcher, Ethan Belcher, Layne Briggs, Connor Cullar, Tryston Harding, Crae Jackson, Crosby Jurecek, Callen McCasland, Andrew Scheffe and Kyle Wolf competed in the football game Saturday night. After a tremendous year on baseball and softball diamond for all three Archer County schools, I felt these athletes deserved a little extra recognition. With that said, I’m debuting the Archer County News Diamond Dozen. Every one of these athletes and their teammates deserve much more recognition and praise than I can give them. We had a great season with all three schools making the playoffs in both baseball and softball and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
