Holliday has strong showing at district tennis

The Holliday tennis team performed well at the District 7-3A meet on April 12-13 in Bowie, advancing two singles champions and a girl’s doubles team to the regional tournament. Belle Welch and Ricky Murray each won the girl’s and boy’s singles draws while Caroline Case and Brooklyn Timms claimed victories in the doubles draw.

Lady Eagles win area track and field meet

Battling harsh weather conditions and numerous delays, the Holliday Lady Eagles withstood the storm to pick up another victory at the District 7/8-3A Area Track Meet on Thursday, April 15, in Dublin. Holliday (189) outpaced Brock (122) by 67 points and ran away from district-rival Breckenridge (56) in third by 133 points.

Archer City, Windthorst T&F advance individuals

Archer City and Windthorst’s girls both performed well at the District 9/10-2A Area Meet on Wednesday, April 14, in Graham. The Trojanettes finished fourth behind Haskell (136) and Stamford (109) with 67 points while the Lady Cats came in eighth with 28 points. Windthorst claimed wins by Cameron Belcher (1600) and Annikah Frank (300 Hurdles). Additionally, the Trojanettes send four to the regional meet in Bree Kirk (100, Long Jump, Triple Jump), Saige Anderson (800, 300 Hurdles, 4x400 Relay), Belcher (1600, 4x400 Relay), Frank (100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, 4x400 Relay) and Ciarra Veitenheimer (4x400 Relay). Not to be outdone, Archer City advanced Maddie Lopez (Shot Put), Delaini Hanna (Pole Vault) and Mallory Maxwell (200, Triple Jump) to the regional meet. Archer City earned a seventh place finish at its area meet while Windthorst came in 13th. McKinnen Beaver (100), Callen McCasland (4x400 Relay), Ty Bates (4x400 Relay), Chance Warren (4x400 Relay) and Kameron Moss (4x400 Relay, Pole Vault) advanced to the regional meet. The regional track meet is tabbed for April 23-24. in Springtown.

Tuesday, April 13 Holliday 3, Bowie 2 The Eagles avenged their lone District 7-3A loss with a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Bowie. Holliday rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth following a lengthy rain delay.
