Friday, April 29 Holliday 5, Bowie 3 Cooper Turner belted a three-run blast in the bottom of the fifth to put Holliday (26-3) on top for good as the Eagles completed an unbeaten run through District 7-3A with a 5-3 win over Bowie. “(Going undefeated in district) is a good confidence boost going into the playoffs,” Holliday skipper Brad Blassingame said. “It’s a tough district. You have to show up to play every game. For us to go undefeated, it says a lot about the fight our team has and the team chemistry we have. We’re looking forward to the playoffs now.” Turner went the opposite way to left-center and the ball continued to carry out of the ballpark for his three-run shot to score Grant Cox and Dalton Anderson and putting the Eagles ahead 5-2. “I was just trying to see-fastball, hit fastball,” Turner said. “I thought it was just a pop fly but on my way to second everyone started cheering.” Grant Cox (7-0) picked up the win, tossing 5.1 innings allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while fanning seven. Peyton Marchand came on with one out in the sixth to earn the save after Cox hit the pitch limit. Marchand threw 1.2 perfect innings, striking out three to close out the contest.
